A province-wide garbage tax has been implemented in Punjab after receiving the green light from the provincial cabinet’s finance committee. The newly introduced tax will affect all residents, businesses, and commercial establishments, regardless of size or location, including those in rural, urban, and slum areas. The Punjab government has officially outlined the tax rates for various property types in a recent notification.
Property | Monthly Tax |
5 – 10 Marla Houses | Rs. 200 |
10 Marla – 1 Kanal and more | Rs. 400 |
Small businesses and shops | Rs. 300 |
Medium and large businesses | Rs. 700 |
This new garbage tax will hit residents of Lahore harder than those in other parts of the province. Due to the city’s larger population, greater waste generation, and more complex sanitation challenges, the tax rates in Lahore have been set significantly higher.
